The combined Hampshire Regional School Districts (HRSD) serve approximately 1,600 students in four single-school elementary districts (Prekindergarten-Grade 6) and one secondary school district (Grade 7-12). The students who enroll in the districts live in the five Hampshire County towns of Chesterfield, Goshen, Southampton, Westhampton, and Williamsburg. HRSD is located approximately 100 miles west of Boston, adjacent to the college town of Northampton and in the foothills of the Berkshires. This location provides an enviable combination of a quiet and beautiful rural setting, proximity to cultural and performing arts venues, and affordable housing costs. Our communities possess a strong sense of pride and a spirit of resourcefulness combined with a strong commitment to the education of children.
New Hingham Regional Elementary School enrolls approximately 150 students who reside in the towns of Chesterfield and Goshen. Within HRSD, New Hingham is the only regional elementary school district. Its attractive building and bucolic landscape are the setting for highly personalized learning experiences and a robust early childhood program.
Anne T. Dunphy Elementary School is located in the town of Williamsburg. This recently renovated, welcoming school is home to approximately 140 students who receive rich and engaging learning experiences that emphasize community-based, hands-on learning, as well as a strong commitment to the arts.
Westhampton Elementary School enrolls approximately 100 students and has been named a School of Recognition by the state’s department of education three times for its outstanding academic performance. In addition, strong collaboration among its community, students, families, teachers, and administration earned it recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2019.
William E. Norris Elementary School, located in Southampton, enrolls approximately 470 students. As the district’s largest and most diverse elementary school, its commitment to, and accomplishments in, meeting the needs of all students continue to be noteworthy, as are its efforts to work in partnership with parents and families.
Hampshire Regional High School’s beautiful Westhampton campus is home to HRSD’s approximately 685 students. The school offers a full program of studies from advanced placement to academic support classes with a low student to teacher-ratio. In addition, the school has a highly engaged student population, active in athletics, clubs, and the performing arts.
The structure of our district is unique. The superintendent's office operates as a single central office staff, which, in turn, provides leadership and support to five separate school districts each having its own school committee, contracts, budget, and state profile. Additionally, HRSD provides contracted central offices services to the Worthington School District. The collective schools' budget, totaling over $26 million, must be individually reviewed and approved by stakeholders throughout the region.
