Dear Students, Families, Teachers and Staff:

I am so very excited to be here!! I have been an educator for thirty years and have experience as a teacher, coach, vice principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and interim superintendent. I have taught students of all ages from enrichment opportunities with elementary students to correctional education for incarcerated adults. For the past seventeen years I have been an instructional leader at the middle school, high school and district levels. In all that time and in those various experiences, I have learned one integrally important lesson: education is about people and the connections made between them. Whether I was teaching interdisciplinary project-based units on mythology and astronomy to fourth graders or exploring the comparisons and contrasts between Machiavelli and Tupac Shakur with inmates, it became clear that the development of relationships was the singular most important determiner of success in education. I am extremely excited to begin building relationships and connecting with the learning communities who have so graciously welcomed and supported my opportunity for leadership as your superintendent, thank you!

As I begin my tenure as superintendent here with the Five Districts (Chesterfield-Goshen, Hampshire, Southampton, Westhampton, and Williamsburg) I will focus on Communication, Collaboration, Community, and Compassion;

I like to call them my 4 Cs:

1. By communicating effectively, we will ensure transparency and provide platforms for discourse with all; 2. Through collaboration we will learn, grow, and move forward positively; 3. In a cohesive community we will support our learners and educators and make the Five Districts the place to be! 4. Finally, with compassion we will put in place excellent instruction, effective programs and amazing schools that adhere to MA General Law, follow District Policies and implement best practices.
