It is the responsibility of the Hampshire Regional School District to locate, identify, and evaluate any children from Chesterfield, Goshen, Southampton, Westhampton or Williamsburg, who are between the ages of 3 and 21, and who may have a disability. Regardless of the severity of the disability, it is the Hampshire Regional School District’s responsibility to determine if the child is eligible for special education or related services under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) or 306 CMR 28 (Massachusetts Special Education Regulations). Referrals may come from a parent, physician, preschool program, or Early Intervention services.
The Hampshire Regional School District is committed to identifying children before their third birthday in order to provide services for three and four year olds. If you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s development and would like to have him/her screened, please contact the district’s Director of Pupil Services, Nancy Parlakulas at (413) 527-7200.
